*snifflesniffle*

I went back to the studio today, and I wasn't as well as I thought I was. I felt fine until I started class. My respiratory system is just all screwed up right now; I could hardly breathe through class tonight. Glad I don't have classes on Wednesdays. I've got the sniffles badbadbad, and my throat is still really sore. Blech, this really sucks. Take care of yourselves, kiddos!

New pointe shoes came in! Got three wonderful pairs. I don't know what made them feel so good, but I was just really satisfied with every single pair. All you dancers know that you usually have to do something to your pointe shoes to break them in a little bit, but these just feel perfect. I got really excited; I couldn't stop jumping for joy.

Hip-hop routine for tomorrow.

one last thing

about Moulin Rouge!...
Wouldn't it have been amazing to be part of something like this?
The choreography, the colors, the costumes...
I wish I was older around that time...

falling into that trap

Maybe I'm just setting myself up to be in the same hurtful situation every time; I don't know. What I do know is that You sure have a way with words...

Went to the doctor earlyearlyearly this morning, and thank goodness I don't have strep or mono or any other icky bacterial shit. I just have a little nasty virus that's going around, but I still need to take care of myself. I've been drinking the ever so magical Emergen-C (a must have in my dance bag) just for that extra boost my immune system needs. Unfortunately, I had to return to school this morning. I dragged myself around school looking all miserable, and I took the night off from dancing tonight. Don't need to be sick and overworked at the same time. I got some good studying in; the only thing I can do while I'm ill (besides crocheting of course).

And yes, I crocheted this cutecutecute muffin cap all by myself! I'm quite proud of it, and I got a lot of compliments about it today. I've started on some nice legwarmers that I could wear during rehearsals! But I'm also going to work on a cute little cap for my baby cousin, Gabe. I need to buy the soft, plushy baby clothing material.

DWTS tonight was awesome. And I think that Steve-o did a lot better than a 15!! Humph, I'd like to dance with a cutie like that. But when he put on that clown outfit, I just about pissed my pants. I'm terrified of clowns, and I just got so scared to think that Steve-o was a clown. But I felt better when I saw him catch that dancefloor on fire! Ha!

Hopefully going to be back at the studio tomorrow.
Usual trip to M.M. Coffee too!

"the greatest thing you'll ever learn

is just to love and be loved in return."

My Moulin Rouge obsession is going too far. I need to return it to the library this week...

However, this obession with crocheting is pretty rad. I don't have to buy expensive muffin caps anymore; I can just make some cute ones of my own!! I wanna make a pretty scarf, but I definitely need to get a new yarn color. This gold color is starting to make me sick!

Speaking of being sick, I still feel awful today. I had to lead the dance rehearsal for the church dancers today. It went well, but since I was a bit under the weather it wasn't cool at all. That's ironic because it was a very beautiful day outside. The only nice day of the week, and I'm ill. I've been wanting to go for a jog, but I'm so dog-gone sick! ):

This video was from yesterday's rehearsal, and it's Junior company + Senior company with Ms. Cambria on the piano. Yes, this is Celebracion. Just a little sneak peak for ya!! It's not as cool because we don't have the big, beautiful skirts, but maybe I'll get a video next week with the skirts. And you even get to hear Pedro's wonderful instruction. Oh, he's wonderful.

Heading over to the doctor's office tomorrow. I need to feel better...

P.S. Did any of you watch the golf deal today with Tiger Woods? Did you see that last putt of his? Unbelievable! Absolutely incredible...this is what I get from growing up with a golfing daddy.

crafty, busy, sicky.

Today was a very long day. It felt so good dancing for so long and feeling so accomplished. This would be my cast of the Le Corsaire Pas de Trois. I'm so short compared to my two beautiful dancers along with me. This is the order, except the other 2 variations; I'm the 3rd variation.

We warmed up in the small studio at 10:30am, and it felt like we were in some small dance studio in the midst of New York City entertainment. It was very interesting, yet not so convenient. All of warm up class, MC was obsessing over my calves. Yes, I know I have wonderful calves. And no, you can't have them!

Newspaper people were supposed to come today to take company pictures, but they never came. So, I had my company leotard hanging to dry all day for nothing...oh well, at least I knew I was prepared when a few other girls forgot the announcement about the pictures.

We ran through the museum show cast first, then the Jefferson Center cast after. I feel very comfortable with all the dances I'm performing in; it's going to be a great show!! Cambria, the piano player, came in today to rehearse Celebracion with us. It was definitely different to have music with all the stomping, but the piece is coming together very nicely. Although my toesies did hurt for a good while. The Junior Company's pieces looked very good as well. I'm just so excited for this show. It's just getting closer and closer; it's almost unbelievable!! So stoked!

I started feeling a bit ill today. My throat has been killing me all day, and I've had a terrible headache. I've eaten and drank plenty of water; I think it's lack of sleep and excessive exercise. Whenever I don't get enough sleep, I always end up sick. On the brightside, I've been teaching myself how to crochet, and I'm quite successful. I'm making a cute beret as my first project in a pretty golden yellow. I'll post a picture when I'm done. I've been working on it all night long; it's almost finished. I've had this crafty feeling since yesterday...
So, I have my hot tea and my crocheting supplies; it sounds like a wonderful evening.

I'm leading a rehearsal tomorrow. I'm quite nervous for it, but it's my chance to prove I'm capable of leading and being a teacher someday.
Pas de deux lessons need to happen tomorrow too.

I need a studio!!

I have to apologize for the lack of updates. The grading period just ended, so I've been so busy with makeup school work and such. I hate highschool.
But now I'm feeling good, and I can't wait for the last grading period to end!!

We went through all of Wizard of Oz last night quite smoothly. I think I'm getting to know my part, and now I can do more acting! Also, I was feeling quite vintage-y yesterday; hence my bold print dress and crocheted scarf. I wore those grungy vintage shoes I have, and I really think it was the last time wearing them. The sole is completely coming off. Goodbye cute, dirty, vintage shoes...

If you didn't know, I watched Moulin Rouge! the other night. It was the first time in about 4 or 5 years! And I fell in love with it all over again. Except I feel so stupid; I was crying even before it got halfway through the movie. And I'm not sure if that means I'm mature or immature. Either way, I don't feel my age.

In a couple of weeks is our museum show for spring, and I'm so excited! I'm doing Poppies while the other cast of Le Corsaire is doing the Trois. It's going to be a sneak peak of our big show, Reencuentro. We're putting everything together for the first time tomorrow; I'll definitely keep you updated on that!

I'm on the search for a prom date, only because I can't go without one. I just need to find someone to get me in, so I can have a wonderful time with my senior friends. I'm going to miss them so much, and I feel like I haven't spent enough time with them this year. Prom is needs to happen for us.

Two weeks from today I can get my driver's permit! I'm gonna pass because I know I will. Spring Break is around that time too, so I'll definitely be trying to get some awesome driving hours in!

I need a studio right now. No tights, no leotards, no buns, no classes...just me and that dancefloor!! Oh, how I wish someone would buy me my own studio!! I might go to the studio tonight to work on a little choreography and maybe record it for my YouTube channel...

i love this man.

This is Pedro Szalay. He is absolutely and extraordinarily beautiful. He received a state award for the best performer (or something like that...). Nonetheless, an amazing and prestigious award was given to him for his efforts. He's shaped each and every one of us into the dancer that we are today. He gives each of us the confidence we seek and allows us to share it with the public. I don't know where I would be without him.

Today's rehearsal went very well. Although I dug out a huge ingrown toenail last night so my toe is in critical condition. Poppies went nearly perfect today, and the Trois was just splendid. I can't wait to perform it! I found out today that I'm performing at both shows at the theatre. And I'm only doing Poppies at the Taubman museum. This is really exciting. The museum show is in about 3 or 4 weeks, and we're all getting pumped.

One thing I've learned through the company is what it means to be professional. I've had to deal with being put down and pushed aside to put other girls in front of me for great parts. And I've learned to deal with that. I take that and use that as a motivation to work harder so that I can be that girl next time around. It frustrates me when people don't know what it means to be professional. You can't just mope around and get angry with yourself all day. First of all, it's the director's decision to place you as that part; there's nothing you can do to change that. And second of all, you should only cry when you don't get to dance at all. Also, it's a matter of how long you've been in the company. I've been in this company for about 3 years now, and I've moved up. I used to be a tinytinytiny Junior company member, and now I'm working hard as a Senior company member. I worked hard to get where I am now, and I can't wait to excel even more. It's always an uphill climb. You have to be willing to get down and dirty.

"Life is beautiful. Music is beautiful. Pedro is beautiful."--Pedro Szalay

i want to be part of THIS.

I don't know how I stumbled upon such a remarkable company, but this company speaks to me like no other. It just seems like the perfect niche for me...I could be wrong. But it seems just right at this moment.

i love wednesdays.

The weather today was so lovely. It just put me in such a good mood! And I wore a dress to reflect on how I was feeling. My cute vintage-y floral print dress from H&M got a lot of compliments today.

I made this here jar last year in art class. I went through a phase when I was obsessed with hippos. I think he's absolutely adorable! And today I just seemed so in love with it, I decided to take a picture, teehee.

Aerobics videos are so fun! Ha, today I did a hip-hop one, and it was just great. I don't recall ever taking a hip-hop class before. And even though this tape was supposed to be a cardio work out, it still had some hip-hopping in it which made it super fun. Hopefully Yo will bring us a few hip-hop teachers next year!!

Today I sketched a few t-shirt ideas to help out Ms. Keltie Colleen. If you guys didn't hear already, she's been asked to help design some dancewear for a rad dancewear company called Sugar and Bruno. We are all excited for her, and we all know the designs will be to die for!!

Did I ever tell you guys how amazing I am at balancing? It's seriously my favorite thing to do, ever. I'm not much of a turner or a jumper; I'm a balancer. Probably not as entertaining has jumping or turning, but I love it so much! Here I am showing off my skills:

If the weather is still this nice tomorrow, I'm definitely wearing shorts.

flirty skirty.

Today's rehearsal was just magnificent. I don't know what it was with today, but it was just wonderful!! We were very effecient and got a lot of work done.

Today was also costume fitting day, so we tried on our tutus and skirts for the last dance, Celebracion. And I love my tutu so much! I feel beautiful in it and absolutely invincible when I pair it with my pointe shoes.
These huge skirts are so stunning! Our costume ladies work their butts off to make us look gorgeous, and we couldn't thank them anymore than we do. It's such professional costume work, I love it! It's just so much fabric! And I'm so happy that I got to wear my favorite color, yellow! Ha, that last picture of me is me trying to be a "naughty nun". I just have too much fun with costumes, hehe.

We finished the Le Corsaire Pas de Trois today. Now we just have to practice it full out without any stops to build up the stamina. I think Pedro picked out the perfect casting for the trois. We just work so well together and look great together. My variation was near perfect today. Pedro seemed very impressed, and I am quite proud of how well I did today.

This is going to be a great show!!

get in the spirit!

I wanna congratulate the magnificent Keltie Colleen on her Dance Spirit feature this month!! If you haven't checked it out, go check it out!! She looks gorgeous as usual, and the article is well written and talks about how amazing Keltie is! And here I am being a little nerd and taking pictures with the magazine...but I was just so excited! And I realized that Keltie and I kinda have the same picture from her article...Ha, Keltie, I know you know what picture I'm talking about!! Congrats again, chica! (And thanks Dylan for letting me borrow your camera!!)
Wizard of Oz rehearsal again tonight.
My arms are holding up better for me as the Scarecrow. It's all those push ups and swimming I've been doing lately. I don't want to get big chunky muscly arms, but definitely some definition would be nice. So far I've definitely gained some muscle.

Tell me what you think of Keltie's article, and drop her a line! http://highkicksandhighhopes.blogspot.com
Let's hear it for the girl!

R.I.P.

Please put Brenda King in your prayers.
She was the girls' basketball team coach, and she passed away yesterday due to cancer. Our school has had great fundraisers for her, and we would really like to ask you all to pray for her and her family right now.
"King, 45, was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer in October....King's husband, Danny, died of lymphoma in September 2005.
Her daughter, Kelly, is an eighth-grader. Her son, Jared, is a former star athlete at Pulaski County who is a freshman baseball player at Virginia."

bad luck bringer.

Today I took a road trip up to Richmond with Dylan, KP, and Wolley for the high school champion basketball game.
It was one of the best road trips I've ever been on.

I wish I still had an awesome camera to take awesome pictures with, but guess what...I don't! All the pictures and videos are on Dylan's camera, and I really need to get those from her. We really had a fantastic time together. We now have a bunch of inside jokes that I will never forget.
Just like I remember from a few weeks ago for auditions, Richmond's roads are very confusing. We freaked out a little when we kept going on the same road about 10 times.

We made it just in time to make it to the boys' game. We had missed the girls' game, but it turns out we lost by about 10 points. The boys' game was a really good one. It was close the entire time. We ended up going into double over time resulting in our team losing again. My mom didn't want to me to go to Richmond in the first place, so when I told her we had lost, she said that it's because I went. That I brought the bad luck and that I just should've gone to school.
However, I think where we really win is that we didn't have to go to school today. Practically our whole school was excused from school to make it to this game, but Salem's student section looked pitiful. We even had our band there...no matter how depressing they sounded.

FYI:
-"Let's hear it for the boy!"<3
-The plural of Gooch is Geech.
-Geech smell awful.
-I've never been afraid of getting hit by a truck until today. ("Dear Truck, please don't change lanes...")
-I hate purple assholes.
-Wolley is well with cats.

"Push Paul out first. He's the prettiest."

The cutest quote by Mr. John Lennon.

I went to Barnes & Noble today to pick up a copy of Hamlet for English and Watchmen. I'm really loving the graphic novel-ness. I'm such a nerd...but I'm really determined to finish it by the end of the week. Yeah, dude, I'll do it.

Sorry about the extremely short post yesterday. I wasn't really in the mood to blog which is not normal for me...but today I was acting really strange. I was getting angry at inanimate objects. Do you know anyone else that does that? Well, I got to school this morning, and my purse was really pissing me off for some reason. So I emptied out all my junk and stuffed it in my backpack, and I left my purse in my locker all day long. I was just so...angry at my purse! I'm so strange. Oh well...

Well, yesterday I just went swimming with one of my good friends. He is a fantastic swimmer, and he taught me how to do butterfly. I felt so out of shape, but I'm not made for swimming so that's alright. I even showed him a few ballet moves outside when we were out on the football field! Anyways, I think I looked quite uncoordinated out in the water no matter how awesome of a teacher he is. It was quite embarassing...but I think I'm starting to like swimming. It's a real workout. I'm going tomorrow to possibly work on my butterfly and just get some extra cross-training exercising in. I think I finally found the perfect cross-training sport. Ha!

I took a day off today...Not enough sleep and Shakespeare just ruins my life right now. Oh well, it was quite nice. Back to the studio tomorrow!!

Hope this wonderful weather stays,

i'm a cotton-headed ninny-muggins.

Last night I spent the night at Dylan's house. It was her 18th birthday, and I just had to make it extra special. As her present, I recorded myself doing a cover of "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. She loved it. We had a fun filled night with us and her alien kitty. I swear, that cat isn't really cat. It sounds like a spaceship!!

Please tell me any of you have heard of the wonderful actor Gale Harold!! He's so brilliant. He's well known for starring on the TV show, Queer As Folk. Dylan introduced me to the TV show, and I absolutely love it! Please check him out because he's just amazing. I want to watch more of it, but we didn't have time....

Rehearsal today was wonderful, besides the fact that I was practically dead due to how awesome last night was. I got through Poppies quickly, but while I had a little down time, I worked on some homework. Then I did my variation, and we even learned the opening for the Pas de Trois for Le Corsaire. I love it, and I love the cast that I'm with. This is going to be fabulous.
And we finally got our character shoes for the dance, Celebracion. The style is native Spanish dancing, kinda like Flamenco or Salsa. Very spicy. The character shoes were killing my feet though!

Then we ran around the mall just shopping before any of the stores closed. I found a nice one-piece to wear tomorrow. I'm so nervous for tomorrow, like you don't even know...I'm just preparing to embarass myself more than I ever have. Oh, and check out my claddagh ring!! I finally got one!! I've always wanted one, and I'm so excited I got it. And getting one with the green stone wasn't more expensive which made me happy.

-Dylan's house is wonderful; no matter what her mother says.
-I think the alien cat has a lesbian crush on me.
-Dylan's parents make delicious food.
-Dylan's father is a wonderful musician.
-Dylan and her house are just awesome. Period.
-The warm weather makes me very happy.
-No one ever wears one piece swimsuits anymore.
-I swear my fingers aren't that fat.
-Shakespeare is brilliant, and so are the Beatles.

This would be my best friend and I.
We are fubbin'.
You can't handle us.

Tonight, I finished learning all my parts as the Scarecrow in Oz. Glad I've got all the acting parts learned. It's not very hard, and it's actually quite fun. I love doing a lot of acting stuff...without talking. It's what I'm good at. Ha, back in 4th grade we put on the Tom Sawyer the Play. I auditioned to be the lead girl, but I got a townsperson because I was really good at miming. I was a bit discouraged, but I think I was the most entertaining townsperson onstage.

Did You ever hear about a thing called flirting? It's the most effective way to spark a fire...teehee.

snowflakes drift down yearning to fall up.

I sure love these specs...too bad they're just 3d glasses with the lenses popped out. Humph, I need new glasses. I lost mine about a few months ago, and my eyesight is getting worse everyday!! I wanna request these frames though. Teehee.

Today was the first real snow day all school year, woot! I missed my orthodontist appointment this morning because I slept in, oops. I just relaxed all day.

Actually, I got to take a bubble bath!! The last time I took a bubble bath was probably when I was 10, ha! So, it was nice to soak my achy body for a little while. I've been listening to Lady Gaga's album all day long, and I actually kinda like it. It's very danceable, but I'll probably get sick of it within the next couple of days.

Then I took a buncha pics with my little brother. Some may say we look alike, but if you look at my baby pictures, I look like a girl version of my baby brother. It was funny because today he asked me, "Bria, are you in college?" So presh.

We even made a video of us singing "Love Story". It's so cute, but I have no idea how to upload it from my phone to the computer. Oh well...

School is cancelled yet again tomorrow. I couldn't stand not being in the studio today. Monday's are my fave at the studio!! But I'll be back tomorrow!!

dancing in the snow

Last night, Dylan and I had yet another one of our long phone talks. I love her so much, and our conversations are just priceless...not really because we realized that the phone bills are going to go up really high because of the two of us.
It started snowing last night, and it continued into the morning and all day long! Finally, we're getting snow! It makes up for all winter that we didn't have snow. I seriously haven't seen this much snow in forever! It makes me really happy...

Except that it was cold at the studio all day long!! My little toes were so freezing! Today was the Footnotes (scholarship) audition. I was really nervous, but only for my contemporary piece since I wasn't really finished with it...

I woke up early today to try and get a few more seconds of dancing in, but by the time I got to the studio, I forgot everything I just made up. So, I improvised. Just the last minute or two of it. I still think that it was good, but I would've felt more comfortable if I had more time to choreograph.
So, the deal this time was different. We weren't allowed to speak to the judges at all. It was a little more nerve wracking having them just watching and glaring at us, but oh well...besides, I like telling them what my own choreography is about. The other girls did lovely. There isn't anything to worry about because we all did terrific!
The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 11, but I have a performance that day, so I won't be able to make it. However, we're still going to be presented our awards on April 16 at the studio.
I came home absolutely starving, and I just chowed down on my mom's delicious guacamole. She seriously makes the best guacamole in the world, and her salsa is just as amazing. And I had a few more tangerines today, since I ate about five last night.

The snow looks absolutely magnificent, and I'm so glad that school is cancelled for tomorrow!! A real snow day!! Maybe I'll go sledding...
